I don’t know about you, but many people see the start of November as the official start of the holiday season. No matter what holidays you celebrate, this is a stressful time for everyone. You’re burnt out from work, it’s finals season, family is coming into town, you’re traveling, there are so many things lined up that it seems like you can’t even stop to think for one second. Instead of letting the stress get the best of you, here are some methods for keeping your cool during this crazy season.
Choose your priorities
Time management has never been a more crucial skill than right now. Make a list of all your tasks for either the day or week, and decide which are more urgent than others. This is the first step to organizing your life and responsibilities, whether they are professional or personal.
Make time for down time
Don’t forget to set aside some time just for you while you’re making that seemingly overwhelming list. Keeping your mental health in check is the only way any of your other work will get done efficiently and effectively.
It doesn’t have to be perfect
We’re not saying completely slack off, but your “good” is probably someone else’s “best,” so as long as you’re proud of your work, you are going to be just fine. And if someone else doesn’t like it, that is not your fault. You are doing your best!
Communicate what you need
No one is expecting you to do everything perfectly on your own. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Whether that’s asking a colleague for clarification on a project or having your significant other help prepare dinner, you don’t have to do it all on your own. Let others help take the stress off, and sometimes, it’s way more fun!
Between shopping and actually leaving work at 5:00 p.m., it can seem like your world is ending. Make sure you are keeping yourself organized, taking time for yourself, and asking for help. Trust me, it’s worth it in the end!
