Game-changing recipes and a new way to tailgate

After an oh-so-very-long summer, football is finally here. Go ahead, shed a tear. We won’t judge.

As with many things these days, this season looks a lot different than previous years, but no need to despair! There are still countless ways to make it a fun and memorable season.

Fortunately, Fantasy Football was basically born for this moment. Thanks to being completely online, it’s a perfect way to enjoy football with friends without ever leaving your couch.

Can’t leave the house to tailgate? Enter: the indoor tailgate. Dress up in your game day gear, cook an unnecessary amount of food, crank your best playlist, and hope the neighbors don’t file a noise complaint.

If the option is available to you, have a small backyard gathering!

With a projector and a sheet, your screen becomes bigger and portable. The bigger the screen, the more you’ll feel like you’re there, right?! You won’t even have to leave your post as grill-master to watch the game. Add other fun elements like decorations, homemade s’mores, and lawn games to really get the party started!

Of course, no game day is complete without a fully stocked kitchen. We bet there are even some of you out there who go to watch parties just for the food (no shame).

We must admit, there is a certain novelty to sub-par concession-stand food. But, an at-home watch party is a fun opportunity to put your own spin on the classics. You may even be able to put a healthier spin on them!

Homemade pizza is healthier and more customizable than takeout. Plus, it’s a great way to entertain the kids by letting them choose and place toppings. Try your hand at homemade dough, use a boxed mix, or make mini pizzas with canned biscuit dough.

Hot dogs are a stadium staple hailed by sports fans across the country. Some may argue that it’s an untouchable classic, but for those of you who are feeling more adventurous, what about a vegan hot dog? Yes, that’s right. We said vegan hot dog. This oxymoronic carrot hot dog from Delish may actually surprise you in a good way.

You can never go wrong with nachos, and home-baked tortilla chips will bring them to a new level. All you need is corn tortillas and your preferred cooking oil!

Cut your tortillas into chip-size pieces, brush with oil, sprinkle with salt, and bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees. Voila! Not only are home-baked chips delicious, but they are lower in saturated fat and sodium than most store-bought brands.

We hope your season kicked off well, and that you have another tail-great weekend this week. Now, go forth, eat good food, and yell at a TV.
