Stay Motivated to Move this Autumn

As we go from swimsuit season to sweater season, it’s all too easy to let our fitness goals slide. We’re surrounded by delicious seasonal treats all the time, and all we want to do is curl up with a blanket and mug of cider to watch a movie.

If you need a motivation boost, find ways to combine fitness with the highlights of the season. Need a few ideas? We’ve got you covered:

  1. Hiking/Trail Running – Colorful foliage makes Washington one of the most beautiful places to be in the fall. Hitting the trail is a great way to experience the scenery! If you’re hiking, you can even pack a picnic full of your seasonal favorites to enjoy at an overlook. If you need a destination, check out this list of the Top 10 Fall Color Hikes in Washington!

  1. Biking – A bike ride is a more relaxed way to enjoy fall foliage, and something the whole family can enjoy. There are plenty of bike trails within or close to Seattle where you can immerse yourself in the colors of fall.

  1. Outdoor Yoga – Take your practice out of the studio and into the crisp autumn air. Being surrounded by nature helps lower blood pressure and stress levels, so you may find that outdoor yoga is more relaxing than indoor. Grab your mat, wear something cozy, and inhale the fall feels.

  1. Kayaking/Canoeing – Now is a great time to be on the water before the weather gets too cold. It’s simultaneously relaxing and a great workout. Plus, it’s another fabulous opportunity to soak in the fall landscape.
