Get Outside This Spring!

As we’re getting into warmer and drier days, we’re all itching to spend as much time as possible outdoors. If you’re looking to try something new or switch up your routine, below are some of our favorite activities this time of year!

1. Pickleball

Pickleball continues to sweep the nation, and if you haven’t tried this fun new sport yet, you’re seriously missing out! It has been the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. since 2022. Why? Because it’s easy to understand and perfect for people of any age. The rules are straightforward, and it’s a great opportunity for some friendly competition. So find a local pickleball court and grab your paddles because this is one you have to try!

2. Hiking

Walking in your neighborhood or at a nearby park is a great way to get some fresh air, but there’s nothing like going on a hike. We are lucky to have SO many beautiful hikes within a short drive, it’s almost disrespectful to not take advantage of ’em. Looking for something short and sweet? Twin Falls is a great one, just outside of North Bend. Be sure to grab lunch at South Fork afterwards! Granite Falls, Snow Lake and Lake 22 are a few other favorites – slightly further out and longer hikes, but very beautiful! Even on day hikes, don’t forget to prepare. REI lists out the 10 essentials to pack in your bag so you’re ready for whatever comes your way.

3. Gardening

Gardening is another quality activity that gets you outside. It’s generally calmer than pickleball or hiking, but can be tedious and a great workout. Especially now, as we’re just entering warmer temps, understanding what times are best to garden is key to successful gardening. Swansons Nursery and Squak Mt Nursery are two of our favorite local nurseries to support. The people there are also very knowledgeable if you’re just starting out. If you can’t make it to either, Home Depot and Lowes typically has a good assortment of herbs, veggies, plants and flowers to put in the ground. Enjoy getting your green thumb on!
